Your First Appointment
At your first appointment at Soft Soles Podiatry, you will be asked to fill in a confidential medical history form, so it is best to arrive around 10 minutes before your appointment begins. Whilst the content of this form may seem irrelevant for some, your podiatrist cannot assess, diagnose, or treat problems according to your individual needs.
The smallest detail may be crucial, so we appreciate a full disclosure of your medical history. Our receptionist will be happy to scribe for you, should you require assistance. Also, please bring a list of any medication you may be taking with you, including any supplements and/or complementary medication to add to the form (we can photocopy this from a repeat prescription if more convenient).
During your first appointment, we will conduct an initial review of your form, followed by a discussion of your problem and an initial assessment. After this, the podiatrist will discuss a proposed management plan with you. Once you are happy, and if time allows, treatment will commence in most cases.
Please Note
All new clients will be assessed according to their medical and podiatric need using priority criteria. An appropriate treatment plan will be created that both podiatrist and client will need to agree on. If required, the podiatrist will also arrange appropriate follow-up care. Please arrive 5 – 10 minutes early for your appointment to complete your medical form and allow 30 – 40 minutes for your whole consultation.
Hospital Referrals
All new hospital referrals are triaged and assessed based on the information entered on the application form. It is important to make sure any details about your medical conditions and the medication you are taking are completed correctly.
Payment
Payment is made after each consultation, either by cheque, cash, or major debit/credit card. If you have private medical insurance, we can provide you with a receipt so that funds can be claimed back by you. Some insurance policies require your GP to authorise treatment. Please contact your insurance provider before arranging your appointment to check your policy details.
Cancellations
Please be aware that we reserve the right to make a charge of £20 per 30-minute appointment for failed appointments and cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment.
Health Plans
We are happy to help guide you through this process to ensure that you get the best treatment for your health plan. You may well be covered for treatments that you did not expect, so please mention your insurer when you call us.
